Situated among the fertile fields, Mysore is the second largest city and cultural capital of the state of Karnataka. As Mysore gets the name of City of Palaces, the first most attracted place for any tourist would be the Mysore Maharaja Palace located at the heart of the city with spacious halls called the Mandapas, with royal and mesmerizing structures and architectural designs, remains a good art piece resembling the Indo - Saracen culture. Next would be Sat. Philomena's church, built in the Neo - Gothic style of design and being the Cologne cathedral as the inspiration to build this wonderful church to Honor St. Philomena. Church holds a beautiful layout designed by a Frenchman which can hold 800 People at a time having 02 steeples of 53 meters high and the congregation hall called the Nave. Next would be the Chamundeeshwari temple located at the hills built during 17th century houses a beautifully decorated idol of the Goddess Chamundeeshwari who has been the family god of the Royal Wodeyar family. For an evening visit you can choose the Brindavan Gardens, a popular picnic spot laid out below the Krishnarasagar Dam by the royal Wodeyars. Adding feather to the cap is the beautiful fountains which are decorated with multi - colored lights on special occasions and some specific days in a week.
